Sage 200 is a mid-market ERP system designed for UK businesses in manufacturing, wholesale and distribution. It covers financials, stock management, purchasing, sales order processing and reporting. It is considerably more capable than Sage 50 and is typically used by businesses that have outgrown Sage 50 or need more sophisticated stock and financial controls.
Sage 50 is a desktop accounts package suited to small businesses. Sage 200 is a proper ERP with a relational database backend, multi-company support, detailed stock control, bin and location management, and far more sophisticated reporting. The integration complexity differs significantly between them, and Sage 200 integrations require a different approach to data mapping and API access.

Magento 2 is more common in the B2B context where Sage 200 tends to be deployed, given its stronger native B2B features, but we have delivered Shopify Plus integrations with Sage 200 for businesses that trade both B2C and B2B from the same platform.
We work with your finance team to agree the nominal code structure before any development begins. Sales can be mapped by product category, sales channel, VAT rate or any other attribute your business uses. The goal is that orders post into Sage 200 in a way that matches your existing chart of accounts, so no rework is needed in Sage after the fact.
VAT handling is one of the most critical aspects of a Sage 200 integration and we treat it accordingly. Standard-rated, zero-rated and exempt products are mapped correctly. B2B orders with VAT registration numbers can be processed at zero-rate where applicable. We validate tax outputs against Sage 200 before go-live to ensure everything posts correctly from day one.
Sage 200 integrations typically take six to ten weeks given the financial complexity involved. The scoping phase is more involved than with simpler OMS integrations because nominal code mapping, VAT logic and customer account structures all need to be agreed before development begins. We will not start building until the data mapping is fully signed off.
