Earlier this week, the government kicked off the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme
Meaning you can get 50% off of your bill when dining out at one of the 72,000 establishments supporting the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, up until the 31st August. Erm, yes – you heard that correctly, a whopping 50% off!
Many of the establishments can be found right here in Chester, and include some of our favourite independents. With that said, we thought we’d give you the lowdown on what exactly the scheme is all about, and where you can find it on the streets of Chester.
What is the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme?
So, as lockdown has eased, more and more dining establishments, bars and pubs have reopened their doors. Due to the 3 month lockdown and the pause it put on business, the food industry has taken a substantial blow. In an attempt to combat this and urge more people to go out and visit bars and restaurants, the government have introduced this ‘Eat Out to Help Out‘ scheme to help rebuild the losses. The scheme offers 50% off your bill when dining or drinking in an establishment that is a part of the scheme, which can usually be identified by signage or just by asking staff.
The discount can only be exercised on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday up until the end of August, and the 50% off only counts for bills over £10 per person. Other than that, the world is your oyster! You can just walk into any establishment participating in the scheme, use this discount and know that you are actively helping to boost the industry and help out your favourite establishments that have been affected by COVID-19.
