What better chilled-out, easy-read content could you ask for than taking a peek at some of the most incredible Airbnb homes we could find? All in the UK, all probably too expensive for us.
We all know Airbnb. We know it well and we know you can get some pretty great deals. Hotels, whilst reliable and consistent, can often get boring and feel closed-off. If you’re exploring a new city, there’s nothing better than staying right in the heart of it, in a unique apartment or room lived in and loved by locals.

Our favourite Airbnb rentals in the UK
Of course, we had to narrow down our search to the UK or we’d be here all day. Plus, it’s interesting to see what amazing places are right on our doorstep. We’ve been careful to not use the same city twice, just to give everyone outside London a chance! Oh, and we’re aware that a lot of these budgets are pretty ridiculous. But where’s the fun in being sensible for a blog post?
Skyline apartment in Central London (South Bank)
The photos speak for themselves. We reckon this is the only way we’re ever going to see how the other half live, even if it does cost around £250 a night. Yikes. Worth it, though? There’s a gym in the building, incredible views over London’s famous skyline and it’s a ten-minute walk from the Tate Modern. Pretty relevant really, considering this apartment belongs to artists who have filled their home with treasures and trinkets from around the globe.
17th-century cottage near Edinburgh city centre (Morningside)
This one’s worlds apart from the last. Rightly so, considering we’re taking things up North to Scotland’s finest, Edinburgh. A 17th-century stone cottage with a rustic log-burner and a bedroom in a tower – what more could you want? Not only that, but a “pleasant 20 mins walk” through picturesque parks will get you to the city centre. And Edinburgh is a pretty magical place as far as cities go. Count us in!
Quirky townhouse cottage in Brighton (South Lane District)
Just look at this house. Look at it!!! As if Brighton wasn’t cute and quirky enough, you can now enjoy it with 7 of your pals in this fabulous birdcage cottage. Bright and colourful decor, rustic features, an incredible wetroom-style shower and a short walk into the city centre can all be yours… if you can part with £258 per night.
Decoy bunker near Newport, Wales (30 mins from Cardiff)
Okay, let’s be real here. If you’re looking for a glamorous, cosmopolitan getaway with Selfridges on your doorstep then this is probably the wrong Airbnb for you. But if you want fresh air, peace and quiet and something a little bit different, this could be right up your street. This decoy bunker based in the Welsh countryside (it’s a 30-minute drive from Cardiff so you can experience city life if you wish) is the ultimate getaway for both couples and solo travellers.
Designer apartment in Liverpool city centre (Fairfield)
If you’re into your Instagram then you’ll definitely appreciate this apartment. Located slap bang in the heart of Liverpool, with all the big-name shops and quirky eateries on your doorstep, you’ll never have a dull moment in this Airbnb! We especially love the astroturf on the walls and the picnic bench in the kitchen. There are 6 bedrooms that sleep up to 12 people, so it’s perfect for a unique family get-together.
Tinson’s Barn in Vale of York (30 mins from York city centre)
We don’t know who Tinson is but we definitely want to stay in his barn. This exclusive, luxurious barn restoration is situated in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside – about a 30-minute drive from York if you fancy popping in. There’s a hot-tub (yep), glass-floor landing, gorgeous Chesterfield sofa and stained glass reclaimed from local buildings. It really ticks all the boxes of a unique and impressive Airbnb.
