Whether you’re a marketing guru looking for inspiration for your next campaign, an ecommerce manager scoping out the competition or simply want to get into the festive spirit, we’re sure you’ll love these adverts. Without further ado, let’s get festive!
1. Asda
Asda’s Christmas advert this year takes us back to the wonderful, nostalgic world of the Grinch! Tapping into nostalgia is a tried-and-tested way to tug at customers’ heart strings around this time of year but what makes this collaboration really work is the fact that the Grinch perfectly captures Asda’s brand colour and feels so right for the brand. It’s the perfect example of how to utilise an adored fictional character that is cherished by the masses to promote your brand, without losing your brand identity and values along the way. And that’s exactly why we’ve put it at the top of our list this year!
2. Waitrose
The one and only Keira Knightley stars in this year’s Waitrose advert alongside a surprising co-star, who you may recognise from Celebrity Traitors earlier this year. The advert is practically a short film about a ‘meet-cute’ where naturally (spoiler alert), the pair falls in love over the cheese counter. The advert is not only heartwarming but also full of hope and magic, which is exactly what we’re all pining for after a turbulent year. The film pays homage to Knightley’s iconic appearance in hit Christmas film Love Actually, allowing Waitrose to stand out from the crowd with their advert this year and bringing back a classic Christmas moment.
3. Sainsburys
Sainsburys have once again utilised Roald Dahl’s timeless BFG character to their brand to life this Christmas. After its roaring success last year, bringing back the BFG was a no-brainer for Sainsburys marketing team in 2025. The advert taps into the true meaning and spirit of Christmas, demonstrating kindness, generosity and giving, when so many adverts forget to embrace those core values that are integral to the festive period. Overall, the advert is extremely emotive, nostalgia and heartwarming, just what we want to see from a Christmas ad!
4. M&S
Much like Sainsburys, M&S Food have reprised their beloved star of the show for this year’s Christmas advert. Once again, the infamous Dawn French returns to offer a tongue-in-cheek performance that feels oh-so-British. The advert centres around getting home for Christmas, highlighting the irks we all face along the way such as traffic jams, making it extremely relatable. Delicious M&S treats are a focal point throughout the advert and certainly feel irresistible to viewers, which is exactly what the M&S Food advert aims to do. Overall, we say it’s a success!
5. John Lewis
The John Lewis Christmas advert is a cultural moment every year and this year is no different. Tapping into themes of fatherhood, nostalgia, the passing of time and male loneliness, the advert feels more poignant than those that have come before. Titled ‘Where Love Lives’, the advert centres around a teenager gifting his father a vinyl and highlights the power of gifting as a form of communication when words are too hard to find. The advert feels timely, relevant and pulls on our heartstrings just as we have come to expect from a John Lewis Christmas Ad.
6. Aldi
Next up, we’ve got the much loved Aldi advert with Kevin the Carrot starring once again. We are loving watching the story of Kevin the Carrot evolve over the years and this advert is absolutely perfect, tapping into the iconic Love Actually scene (as Waitrose also do), and bringing vegetables to life in the most fun and adorable way. The advert is bursting with dreamy Christmas scenes centered on love, split over a 3 part episodic-style advert, making it feel more like a short film and truly creating a world of its own.
7. Disney
Disney never fails to create a Christmas advert that pulls on our heart strings and makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This year’s advert features a girl’s drawing that magically comes to life on Christmas morning. Overlaid with the iconic song ‘You’ve got a friend in me’, most of us know and love from Toy Story, the advert taps into our nostalgia for childhood magic and tells a story of friendship, love and kindness over the holiday season. It’s a perfect Christmas advert in our book with the perfect blend between nostalgia and magic.
8. Tesco
Tesco’s advert is a bit of a curveball this year, highlighting our collective niggles such as family annoyances, long queues and general stresses over the festive period. Split into several short adverts set in familiar scenes such as a uni student returning home for Christmas, making a brew in the office kitchen or fighting with siblings over a Christmas day board game, the ads are tongue-in-cheek, humorous and extremely relatable, deeming them a success in our eyes. While a far cry from Disney’s heartwarming and dreamy advert, Tesco stands out for its originality and bold take on a traditional Christmas ad.
9. Wallace & Gromit X Barbour
Barbour have managed to score a winning collaboration with Wallace & Gromit this year, and their efforts don’t dissapoint! Featuring our favourite stop-motion characters that are unmistakably British, the advert gives viewers exactly what they want from a Christmas advert. Two quintessentially British brands coming together to create a memorable advert is exactly why we love the festive period, when rules are broken and originality shines.
10. Boots
Boots’ Christmas advert offers a great sense of humour reflecting the classic British pantomime experience by centering their advert on the iconic Puss-In-Boots character. The advert feels like being immersed in a cringey, cheesy pantomime play at the local theatre and taps into our collective experience of doing just that. Fairytale-esque, camp and fun, the advert stands out from the rest thanks to its unique brand identity and lense.
And there we have it! Our top 10 Christmas adverts of 2025. Do you agree? Would you have any more to add? Let us know over on our socials, we can’t wait to hear!
