Our Favourite Christmas Adverts Of 2024

Every year we all look forward to the latest Christmas adverts…

And this year is no different! We’ve gathered our top 10 Christmas adverts of 2024 so you can have a flick through the best of the best and allow yourself to get lost in the festive spirit. If you’re a marketing manager or are running an ecommerce brand, perhaps these ads will give you the inspiration you need to create a show-stopping Christmas advert or social media campaign that captures the essence of Christmas while promoting your brand. Without further ado, let’s get festive!

1. M&S Christmas Food

Dawn French stars in this year’s M&S Christmas Food advert and doesn’t disappoint with the comforting Vicar of Dibley vibes that we all crave around this time of year. The advert truly understood the assignment, wistfully poking fun at the polite British way of happily welcoming strangers into our homes without a second thought. Overall, the ad is definitely up there as one of the best, making us feel warm and cosy while giving us a laugh to welcome in the festive season. It’s a 10/10 from us!

2. The Gifting Hour, John Lewis

The advert we all eagerly anticipate every year without fail, is finally here! The John Lewis Christmas advert 2024 is titled The Gifting Hour and  beautifully depicts the intricacy of sibling relationships. The advert follows the heartwarming and nostalgic tale of two sisters and finding the perfect present. Overall, the advert is exactly what we’ve come to expect from John Lewis at Christmas and if you haven’t already given it a watch, prepare to feel all the feels this year!

3. Feed Your Christmas Spirit, Tesco

Tesco’s Christmas advert 2024 is certainly a tearjerker to say the least. The advert touches on the grief that many of us experience during the festive season and truly tells a beautiful story of love and loss, and finding your Christmas spirit amidst the vast array of emotions we go through during the holidays. Get your tissues ready before watching this one!

4. Sainsbury’s BIG Christmas

Sainsbury’s came back with a bang with their Christmas advert this year! Using Roald Dahl’s BFG character, the leading UK supermarket told the story of a magical, dreamy Christmas filled with imagination and festive cheer. It’s a feel-good advert that everyone of all ages is sure to love. Go and check it out now!

5. Argos Rockstar

This year’s Argos Christmas ad is centred around a T. Rex toy playing an iconic song by the 70s band T. Rex. It’s short and sweet but overall the advert feels fun and almost brings back the childhood nostalgia of watching toys come to life in the likes of Toy Story. What’s your verdict?

6. The Gift Of McDonalds

Let’s be honest, we’ve all been guilty of nipping for a quick McDonalds mid-Christmas errands and this advert perfectly captures that feeling. The advert brings the streets to life and creates a feel-good, don’t take life too seriously attitude with dancing strobe lights perfectly timed to the iconic 2002 dance hit, Satisfaction. Well done McDonalds.

7. ASDA Gnome of Christmas

ASDA’s infamous ceramic gnomes stole the show this year! The advert celebrates the miniature gnomes as they help ASDA employees to prepare the store in time for Christmas. It’s a fun-filled advert that personifies one of the supermarket’s best-sellers so it’s a very clever advert for multiple reasons. Full of gnome puns and classic Christmas tunes, it’s a true all-rounder.

“Asda’s gnomes are long-standing favourites with our customers and they were staring us in the face as the obvious characters for our Christmas campaign — a very Asda way for us to showcase our breadth of offer” – David Hills, Asda.

8. A Waitrose Mystery

Waitrose didn’t disappoint this year with an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery plot to their Christmas advert. The storyline follows actor Matthew Macfayden solving the crime of a missing dessert and makes light of the classic ‘who ate the last mince pie’ conundrum many families find themselves in at this time of year.

9. Cartier Magical Night

This year’s Cartier Christmas advert is nothing short of pure magic! Featuring a jungle-inspired hunt for the finest jewellery, a musical staircase and snow inside the store, it’s certainly going to get jewellery lovers into the festive spirit.

10. Disney, The Boy & The Octopus

Finally, is Christmas ever complete without Disney? In the Boy & The Octopus, Disney’s Christmas magic shines through with an advert that is truly centred around the narrative rather than product placement or tons of branding. The storyline is subtle and utterly heartwarming with Disney’s iconic melodies setting the perfect scenes for a witty and uplifting festive story.

And there we have it! Our top 10 Christmas adverts of 2024. Do you agree? Would you have any more to add? Let us know over on our socials!

What our customers are saying

We're absolutely thrilled with the work Limely have done for us. Taking our website to the next level with Magento 2 was the best thing we ever did, we'll be continuing to work together for the foreseeable!

We are really pleased with our new website and the support and great service Limely have provided during the whole process. Not only are Limely excellent at what they do, but are a friendly, approachable team who put their clients' best interest at the forefront of their work.

The site itself looks great but the way that the whole team were prepared to go the extra mile, including helping me with the brilliantly-written content shows how much they care about their work. Thank-you to the whole team and I look forward to working with you again soon!

I was very pleased with the quality of the websites which Limely built for us. They took a complicated brief and created a bespoke solution which kept everything as simple as possible. The team are a pleasure to work with and I wouldn't hesitate in working with them again for future projects. An excellent web agency.

Our brief was a custom website, with lots of complicated functions along the way, and Limely have smashed it and built us an amazing website. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking to have a new website created, their knowledge, experience and professionalism is the best.

What can I say... the guys at Limely are a dream to work with! Not only have they made our website something to be incredibly proud of but we have made some fab friends in them! Thank you so much for everything!
