Stage, preview and schedule Magento CMS changes
MageDrop gives Magento merchants a proper content staging workflow. Group changes into named releases, preview them live on your frontend, schedule deployment and roll back instantly if anything goes wrong.
Magento's default CMS workflow was not built for coordinated content releases.
The Magento admin lets you save a CMS page or block. It does not give you a way to prepare a set of changes, preview how they will look on the live frontend, and then deploy them all at once at a scheduled time. For merchants running promotions, seasonal updates or any content change that needs sign-off before going live, this is a genuine problem.
MageDrop adds a proper staging layer on top of Magento 2. A lightweight SaaS dashboard connected to your store via a companion Magento module. Stage changes to named releases, preview them on your real frontend with live data, schedule deployment and roll back if needed. Free to use.
Four steps from staging to live.
Stage your changes
Edit CMS pages and blocks in the Magento admin as normal. A "Stage to Release" button appears alongside the standard save action. Select a release, click stage — your changes are captured without touching the live store.
Preview live on your frontend
Open a preview link directly from the MageDrop dashboard or the Magento admin. Your frontend loads with all staged changes overlaid exactly as they will appear when deployed. Share the preview link with your team or client for sign-off.
Schedule or deploy
Set a date and time for the release to go live automatically, or deploy manually whenever you are ready. MageDrop pushes all staged changes to Magento via REST API in a single coordinated operation.
Rollback instantly if needed
Every deployment captures the previous state before applying changes. If something is wrong after a release goes live, rollback to the pre-deploy state in one click. Revision history gives you a complete record of every CMS change.
Everything in one workflow.
Named releases
Group related content changes into a single named release. Stage changes to multiple pages and blocks together and deploy them as one coordinated update.
Live preview
See staged content on your actual frontend before it goes live. Preview links work with Hyvä and Luma. Share with stakeholders for sign-off without exposing anything to real visitors.
Scheduled deployment
Set a start date and time for any release. MageDrop deploys automatically at the scheduled time via a background job. Optional end date for time-limited promotions.
Instant rollback
Rollback any deployed release to its previous state instantly. Rollback values are captured at deploy time so the restore is always accurate, regardless of subsequent changes.
Revision history
Every CMS page and block save is captured as a revision automatically. View the full change history for any entity, compare versions side by side and restore any previous version.
Free to use

Common questions about MageDrop
MageDrop supports Magento 2.4.x including the latest 2.4.8 releases. The Magento module is available via Composer from Packagist. It works with both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce.
Yes. The preview bar and preview overlay are both compatible with Hyvä. The module includes a dedicated Hyvä layout override so the preview bar renders correctly on Hyvä frontends without requiring Luma layout XML.
Currently CMS pages and CMS blocks. Revision history is captured for both. Additional entity types are on the roadmap.
When a preview session is started, the Magento module sets an HTTP context value that signals which release to overlay. CMS page and block models are intercepted via plugins and staged values are applied in-memory before rendering. Full Page Cache is handled correctly — preview sessions use a separate FPC vary key so preview content is never served to regular visitors.
Yes. The SaaS dashboard and Magento module are both free to use with no usage limits. MageDrop is a product built by Limely for the Magento community.
Install the Magento module via Composer, create an OAuth integration in the Magento admin with the required permissions, paste the four OAuth credentials into the MageDrop setup wizard and the connection is established. The setup wizard walks you through each step.
