Hallows ‘Eve is looming and the pressure to think of something to do is just getting too much!

Especially this year where all of our Halloween plans, whether you were trick or treating with the kids or getting dressed up for some Halloweeny cocktails, have been cancelled.

But, just because things are a little bit different for Halloween 2020, doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate! With games you can play, decorations you can craft and of course pumpkins you can carve – you can plan a spooky night to remember in the comfort of your own home.

So to help you out, we did a whip around the team to get some of their top scary movies and series that they’ll be watching this Halloween so you too can equip your night with some of the spookiest content currently gracing our favourite online streaming services. So, read on, take notes and get ready for this spooktacular weekend!

Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor

Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor are the first two instalments of a horror/thriller series, the stories of which have been moved from the pages of a book to the Netflix screen. Not for the faint-hearted and certainly not for kids, both series cover two completely different stories, however, both involve the thrilling tale of a big, ominous haunted house with lots of secrets.

BirdBox

A recent Netflix hit, BirdBox is a creepy thriller starring Sandra Bullock that shows the journey of one woman and two children, trying to get away from an unknown force that has taken over the world. But one thing is made clear – the creature only attacks if you see it. It will have you on the edge of your seat and is a definite option for a night in with your household!

Frankenweenie

When a film is made by Tim Burton, you know it’s going to be perfect for Halloween! And this one just happens to be perfect for those with young kiddies in the family. Following a young boy who revives his family dog, they get into all sorts of trouble when his neighbourhood is terrified by his spooky, ‘Frankenstein’ appearance!

A Quiet Place

Starring married couple Emma Blunt and John Krasinski, it follows a family in a post-apocalyptic world that has been taken over by creatures that attack when they hear any sound, no matter how small. A tense film that spends most of the time in silence, we don’t recommend watching it with anything that can spill!

The Shining

An absolute horror classic, The Shining stars Jack Nicholson as his character Jack Torrence and his family move to the Overlook Hotel which just happens to be in the middle of nowhere and possesses quite a violent past. Renowned for its cinematic artistry and storytelling, The Shining is as impressive as it is scary!
