It’s that time of year when everyone is preparing for Christmas as early as possible. It’s not even halfway through November and we’re already talking festive ads! (Not complaining.)
Remember when the Coca-Cola truck was pretty much the only advert worth getting excited about? Well, it’s a whole different ball game now. Every supermarket, department store and brand is releasing a Christmas advert this year! There’s already so many to pick from, it’s hard to choose a clear winner. However, here are five of our favourites so far. Click on the hashtag to see what everyone on Twitter is saying and join in the conversation!
Debenhams have really got people talking on social media with this one. The ad puts a clever twist on the classic Cinderella story. It’s a modern-day fairytale with a heartwarming ending… and a great use of hashtags! We love.
It’s all in black and white so naturally, it envokes nostalgia and cosiness. We really like the subtle use of Waitrose products combined with a festive plot of getting trapped in a pub by a heavy snowfall. The perfect combination of advertisement and entertainment!
As our office is pretty much adjacent to M&S, we spend a lot of our lunch breaks in there and we’ve become big fans of the place. We’re now also big fans of their annual Xmas advert! Anything with Paddington Bear is an automatic hit and now we just really want to watch the film again…
This advert has caused a bit of controversy on social media – just click the hashtag to see what we mean. It features members of the public, well-known personalities and Sainsbury’s staff members joining in a sing-a-long. We personally love the sentiment behind it but it’s definitely the Marmite of this year’s Christmas ads. You’ll either love it or hate it!
Last but definitely not least, it’s Aldi’s advert. The German supermarket chain has become a big player on the festive ad scene in recent years and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. There’s nothing like a bit of food-related animation. Who knew we could feel so involved with the love affair of two carrots?!
What’s your favourite?
Everyone in the office is pretty torn between these five. Frontend developer Spencer has picked #KevinAndKatie as his ultimate favourite but content writer Emma has chosen the M&S advert as a winner. Our designer Emma has a soft spot for the Waitrose one! Let us know your favourite advert by commenting on our Facebook post or tweeting us at @LimelyLtd.
