Google Announce New Cloud Service – Say Hello to Google One

Google has just launched an all-new subscription service which was announced yesterday (May 14th). The storage plan aims to be less costly and packed with more features than the existing service.

Although it was just announced yesterday, we’ve already got quite a bit of information about this new update to Google’s storage services. However, we expect to hear a lot more in the coming weeks and you’re encouraged to sign up for updates at the new Google One site.

What is Google One?

Essentially, it’s a cloud storage service that users can subscribe to. And it’s going to replace Google Drive. If you currently pay for Drive, you’ll be moved over to a similar One plan fairly shortly. Don’t worry though, there won’t be any major disruptions or changes to your service. For those who have a G Suite subscription, your plan will remain the same. According to the tech giant, their newly branded project aims to help consumers “get more out of Google”.

What’s new?

First things first, there’s new branding. But beyond that, there’s plenty of new features. The services range from 100GB to 30TB which gives users massive scope to customise plans to their individual needs. A new customer service concept is being introduced: one-tap access to help and advice from Google experts. Plus, you’ll be able to add up to five family members to your plan. This will be charged to one billing account, but everyone gets their own private storage. Of course, Google One will be rolled out to the U.S. first, with other countries around the globe following.
