Introducing Clips from Apple – a brand new app for iPhone and iPad offers a fun way to create expressive videos on iOS.
It looks like Apple wants a slice of Snapchat’s pie. Clips combines video clips, photos and music into videos you can share with friends through iMessage, Instagram, Facebook and other social channels.
There’s even a Live Titles feature that lets you create animated captions and titles using your voice. And of course, a whole host of fun effects and filters such as comic book, speech bubbles, shapes and full-screen animated posters.
Clips gives iPhone and iPad users a new way to express themselves through video, and it’s incredibly easy to use. The effects, filters and amazing new Live Titles we’ve designed for Clips let anyone make great-looking, easily sharable videos with just a few taps. – Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Apps Product Marketing.
With hordes of similar apps, there is pressure on Clips to really blow the rest of them out of the water. Users will definitely be expecting something exceptional simply because, well, it’s Apple.
Clips is a free app that will be available on the App Store at the beginning of April. It’s compatible with iPhone 5s and later, the new 9.7-inch iPad, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad mini 2 and later, and iPod touch 6th generation. Devices must be running iOS 10.3.
